ADAMS Class DDG
Museum Ship
is fast becoming a reality !

The Adams Class Veterans Association, Inc. (ACVA) has been working for several years to save the USS Charles F. Adams (DDG-2), with the goal of turning her into a museum which would represent ALL Adams Class DDG's. They have finally found a home for the Adams - her former home port, Jacksonville (Mayport), Florida.

But they need our help.

The total cost of the application required by NAVSEA will be around $100,000 and that has to be raised and the application submitted before NAVSEA's March deadline. If the deadline isn't meant, the Adams will be scrapped out and the last remaining Adams Class DDG in the U.S. will be gone forever. For more information, please visit the
ACVA website

Reunion Stuff

SELLERS in Drydock

Thanks to GMC (SW) William Britton for passing along two heartbreaking photos of the SELLERS taken in Philly at Metro marine as she was being broken up. Chief Britton writes, "These pictures were given to me by Mr. Bob Frost SUPSHIP Philadelphia whom I had met at the Metro Machine Corporation dry docks in what was the old Philadelphia Navy Shipyard in 2004. Our meeting was the result of my finding out from NAVSEA personnel that she was no longer in their care. NAVSEA personnel were kind enough to provide directions to the dismantling area. I met Mr. Frost at the dry dock by chance where she was being dismantled. He granted me access to the area above the dry dock and explained the process in detail. I had taken pictures of her previously on what was called "dead mans row" in the late 90's and again in 2003. It was a very sad day to see her like that and find out the news. I provided my e mail to Mr. Frost who did send me these final pictures of the mighty warship intact. Metro has since closed operations in Philadelphia in 2006 after dismantling 18 warships." SELLERS Refueling

A big SELLERS "thank you" to IS1 "Buz" Hooper for sending us a short clip that shows DDG-11 during refueling. Only lasts a few seconds, but this is the sort of sharing that we all need to be doing. Thanks Buz! Click here to watch the video.

Welcome Shipmates
